奈良市の歴史的な町家が立ち並ぶ「ならまち」に建つ鍼灸を中心としたケア・セラピーのための施設です。 1階に日本茶のカフェ、2階に鍼灸院「ならまち月燈」、3階にライブラリーを配し、日常の中で心身を整え、知と静けさに触れることのできる場を目指しています。 通りに連なる歴史的な建物群との調和を重視し、周辺の町家と軒の高さや外壁の位置を揃えることで、街並みの連続性を意識しました。外観には、ならまち周辺で多く見られる縦格子のパターンを取り入れ、新築でありながら、かつてからこの場所に佇んでいたかのような気配が感じられる建築を目指しています。 外壁や室内の天井には奈良県産の杉材をふんだんに使用し、木の質感や香りが感じられる穏やかな空間となっています。

Located in Naramachi, a historic district of Nara City lined with traditional machiya townhouses, this facility is dedicated to care and therapy, with a focus on acupuncture.
A Japanese tea café occupies the first floor, an acupuncture clinic the second, and a library the third. The facility is envisioned as a place where people can restore balance to both body and mind in the course of everyday life, while encountering knowledge and a sense of tranquility.
Particular attention was paid to creating harmony with the historic buildings along the street. By aligning the eaves height and the position of the exterior walls with those of the surrounding machiya, the design seeks to preserve the continuity of the traditional streetscape.
The façade incorporates a vertical lattice pattern commonly found throughout Naramachi. Although newly constructed, the building was designed to evoke the feeling that it has quietly stood on this site for generations.
Nara-grown cedar is used extensively for both the exterior walls and interior ceilings, creating a calm and soothing atmosphere in which the texture and natural fragrance of wood can be experienced.
